A number of infractions by a bicycle rider set him on a path to collide with a city bus, early Wednesday.
The collision happened at about 7:20 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 97 and 10th Avenue.
"Investigators believe the bus was making a left hand turn off Highway 97 onto 10th Avenue, westbound.
The bicycle was traveling northbound, against traffic on the side walk and crossed the intersection without right-of-way," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass. "The rider was not wearing a helmet."
The rider, a 26-year-old Prince George man, suffered minor injuries. His bike was damaged. There was no damage to the bus or any injury suffered by the occupants of the bus.
Charges under the BC Motor Vehicle Act are being considered against the rider.
"The Prince George RCMP would like to remind the bicycling public that riding on sidewalks, crosswalks and without helmet are offenses under the BC Motor Vehicle Act," Douglass said. "Bicyclists should be riding with traffic and obeying all traffic laws."
He also urged motorists to be extra vigilant for bicycle riders since the weather was warmer now and pedal power is a popular mode of transportation, even in poor weather.
