Contract negotiations have begun between the city of Prince George and their unionized staff.
The four-year collective agreement for the two locals of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, 1048 and 399, expired at the end of December.
According to union reps, the two parties won't negotiate through the news media.
The city brought in Vancouver labour lawyer Adriana Wills to lead the employer's bargaining unit.
Acting city manager Kathleen Solitis has said the city is hoping to get through the negotiations "effectively and efficiently" with Wills at the helm.
