COVID outbreak declared at Kitimat worksite

Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada project site in Kitimat. In a posting, it said 14 employees of the prime contractor, JGC Fluor, have tested postive for the virus.

Northern Health has declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the LNG Canada project site in Kitimat.

In a posting, it said 14 employees of the prime contractor, JGC Fluor, have tested postive for the virus.

"All of these cases are considered to be associated with this outbreak and occurred in the same general work location. Specific on-site employees are being screened. Contact management and tracing have gone well, and will continue," Northern Health said.

In all 32 employees - made up of those who have tested positive and their close contacts - have been instructed to self-isolate.

The outbreak declaration will be in place for at least 28 days.
