The B.C. Ministry of Health reported two additional COVID-related deaths in the Northern Health region on Thursday.
The pandemic has claimed a total of 317 lives in the Northern Health region. No new COVID-related deaths were reported on Friday.
As of Friday, 38 people in the region were hospitalized with COVID-19, including six who were in critical care, the B.C. Centre for Disease Control reported. That's down from 49 people hospitalized as of Thursday.
The B.C. CDC reported 50 new cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region on Friday. The CDC no longer reports the number of active cases.
Since the start of the pandemic there have been 28,698 cases of COVID-19 in the Northern Health region.
As of Friday, 90.7 per cent of eligible British Columbians (aged five and older) had received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine, and 86.4 per cent had received a second dose. In addition, 56 per cent of those aged 12 and older had received a booster dose.
More than 11.36 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been administered in B.C., including 520,792 doses in the Northern Health region.
