A man and a woman have pleaded guilty to three counts of benefiting from sexual services.

Jody Lee Burns and Jennifer Dawn Comadina entered the pleas Thursday in Prince George provincial court, nearly a year after they were arrested on the day a woman told RCMP she had been held against her will for a number of days and forced into the sex trade.

Comadina was subsequently sentenced Thursday to one month in jail while Burns, who also pleaded guilty to two firearms-related charges, awaits sentencing. Both had remained in custody since their arrests in October 2016.

The pleas were entered Thursday before a preliminary inquiry was to be held. The counts relate to receiving a financial or other material benefit derived from sexual services and carry a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

The two had originally faced a much longer list of charges that included counts of trafficking in persons and sexual assault using a firearm, both of which carry a maximum sentence of 14 years in prison.
