The city is hoping to get moving this summer on new green space in the downtown core.

During Monday night's meeting, city council will be asked to approve the idea for the Wood Innovation and Design Centre park, set to go in behind the George Street building.

The preliminary design for the park, which has a budget of $750,000, was completed by Van der Zalm and Associates, a Vancouver-based firm that also designed the Canada Games Plaza renovation.

The concept design will be available for public review at an April 14 open house in the lobby of the Ramada lobby between 3 and 6 p.m.

Construction is expected to begin in June and hopefully wrap up by the end of September.
