City council will consider a $5,000 grant to the local St. John Ambulance brigade to help cover the cost of an ambulance unit.
The non-profit organization provides first responder support to local organizations including community and sports events on a by-donation basis.
"There is no doubt that a lot of our community events would be in trouble without St. John Ambulance," Coun. Terri McConnachie said.
Divisional superintendent Eric Peng said having an ambulance would allow St. John Ambulance to provide first aid support to Prince George Search and Rescue, as well as providing a controlled, heated and private location to treat patients at other events.
The total cost of the ambulance and supplies is estimated at $50,000. City staff will prepare a report, which council will consider on Feb. 22.
