Council needs more information before deciding whether they should authorize the closure of the recreational vehicle sani-dump in the bowl.
During Monday night's meeting, operations superintendent Bill Gaal introduced a report suggesting council eliminate the sewerage dump site at the Quinn Street transfer station.
The site, which as of April 1 stopped accepting solid waste, operates the public RV sani-dump between May and October.
Council voted to refer the report back to staff for more in-depth information.
"The report could perhaps give more detail," said Mayor Shari Green.
A few councillors said they were concerned that there wasn't any information as to how frequently the location is used.
"Over the years we have not kept track of the volume of use at the sani-dump, however anecdotally it has been used fairly regularly," wrote parks and solid waste services manager Flavio Viola in the report.
Since the sani-dump was located in the same $6 gate as solid waste disposal, Gaal could not respond to any councillor questions regarding the revenue it generates. He did say that if the service is kept open, it would require city staff to occasionally attend the otherwise regional district-run site for maintenance.
There were also questions about what the transfer station site will look like in the future.
"Once we start chipping away at that place... who knows what's going to happen down the road," said Coun. Lyn Hall.
The staff report said closing the sani-dump at the Quinn Street location would allow for alternate use of the transfer station lands and that the area would be incorporated into the 18th Avenue Yard for public works purposes.
