The Prince George Cougars and Cap-It Prince George are organizing a food drive to stock the shelves of the Prince George Council of Seniors Meals On Wheels program.

The Prince George Cougars are teaming up with a local truck accessory store to help keep Prince George seniors from going hungry this Christmas season.

Cap-It Prince George and the Cougars are joining forces to host a holiday food drive in support of the Meals On Wheels program provided by the Prince George Council of Seniors.

“The CAP-it Prince George location was purchased by our family on April 1st but we have been members of this community for over 30 years,” said Cap-It Prince George franchise owner Gary Smith.

“We are proud of Prince George and the generous people that we have the pleasure of calling city-wide neighbours. Our CAP-it family is thankful for the opportunity to work with partners and all of you to support our community by giving back.”

Donations of non-perishable food items are now being accepted at the Cap-It store at 2795 Continental Way in the BCR Industrial Site or at the front entrance of CN Centre. Fans attending Cougars games for the rest of December will be able to bring their donations to the rink.

“The Prince George Cougars are so proud to be a member of this community. It’s an honour to be able to give back alongside our partners and Cougars fans, and to have the opportunity to share these moments together,” said Cougars director of business Taylor Dakers.

The league-leading Cougars are back on home ice Friday (7 p.m. start) to face the much-improved Victoria Royals, who now rank second in the BC Division standings.

The Saturday rematch (6 p.m.) with the Royals at CN Centre is the Cougars’ Teddy Bear and Toque Toss event and fans are asked to bring their wrapped gifts to the rink that night to toss onto the ice when the Cougars score their first goal, to benefit the Salvation Army.
