The Prince George Cougars have announced their leadership group for the 2018-19 season.

Josh Curtis was named captain with Joel Lakusta, Jackson Leppard, Josh Maser and Ryan Schoettler joining him as alternates.

“Just seeing how Curtis carries himself and the respect he gets from his teammates and coaches makes him a true leader for this group,” says general manager Mark Lamb in a press release. “We have a number of guys with the same qualities that we think makes a strong leadership group going forward.”

Curtis was selected by the Cougars in the eighth round and 156th overall in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. He enters his final year in the WHL.

The 20-year-old Winnipeg native has racked up 18 goals, 52 assists for 70 points in his past three seasons. He has one assist in seven career playoff games.

Last year, he set a career high in assists (27), goals (nine), and points (36).

“It’s truly special, an honour to wear a ‘C’ for this organization,” says Curtis in the release. “One of my goals this season was to be one of the leaders. I wanted to lead this team and instil a winning culture, and I feel we have a great leadership group now in place that can do that.”
