Theatre Northwest presents a mystery to solve in Clue: On Stage

It's based on the classic whodunnit board game

Colonel Mustard in the ballroom with a knife. Once you commit there is nothing you can do but open the envelope and see if you're right. But is it?

Starting Thursday, Sept. 4, Theatre Northwest presents a new option. You can take in the play that kicks off their 30th season, Clue: On Stage ,and kick back and watch the comedic action unfold.

"All of those classic British stock characters that we love, Colonel Mustard, Professor Plum, Miss Scarlet, Mr. Green, all of those characters are in this play as well," says director Sarah Rodgers. "So, for something like this, obviously, a lot of people would be familiar with the board game or even the movie, potentially even plays."

"So, this is something that, for a lot of people, they can come in and they're already familiar with the play," says Rodgers. "Plays usually come from literary sources, so books. This journey is a board game to a movie to a play. So it's filled with challenges because of that.  And I think that's one of the reasons why the board game works so well for us and is such a delight for us, because it works really well on stage to be able to reenact that board game versus trying to do a lavish manner where the characters go from one room to another to another."

This is Rodger's third time at TNW. Previously she directed Marvelous Wonderettes and Always Patsy Cline.

This 2025-26 season TNW's mainstage opens with Clue: On Stage, followed by The Odd Couple and Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express.
