Cottonwood Island Park and the full length of the Heritage River Trails will reopen to the public on Saturday.
The park and section of the trail from Cameron Street Bridge to the Yellowhead Bridge was closed on Jan. 20 after an ice jam on the Nechako River caused the province to issue a flood warning on the river.
Cold temperatures earlier in January had caused frazil ice, soft surface ice, to form on the Nechako River and jam against the stable ice on the Fraser River.
Warm weather since Jan. 20 has broken down the ice jam and mitigated the flood risk.
The City of Prince George is urging residents to continue to use caution near the Nechako River.
