The provincial government named a small number of corrections officers who were especially good at getting things right.

The Solicitor General's annual Corrections Exemplary Service Medals award results were announced on Tuesday, and of the 28 cited across the province, four of them were stationed in Prince George. One was employed at Prince George Regional Correctional Centre while the other three work at various levels of the youth corrections system.

Solicitor General and Attorney General Shirley Bond bestowed the awards along with Minister of Children and Family Development Mary McNeil.

The winners were:

Alanna Love - Prince George Regional Correctional Centre

Shannon Elliot - Prince George Youth Probation Office

Kim Fogtmann - Prince George Youth Custody Services

Ian King - Prince George Youth Custody Services

"I was very pleased to be able to award and recognize the tremendous achievements of all 28 Correctional Officers from across British Columbia," said Solicitor/Attorney General Shirley Bond, a Prince George MLA. "It was a special honour to be able to congratulate these four special individuals making a difference each day here in Prince George."

"The work done by these exemplary officers has truly made a difference in people's lives, and I'd like to extend my thanks to them for their ongoing commitment to our community's corrections clients. Their recognition is well deserved," added fellow Prince George MLA Pat Bell.

The awards are presented to honour corrections staff members who have reached milestones for exemplary service, beginning at 20 years for the Corrections Exemplary Service Medal and 30 years for the Corrections Exemplary Service Bar.
