You’re going to have to slow down when you’re driving through the College of New Caledonia (CNC).

In an effort to improve safety, CNC has made changes to the speed limit, signage and traffic patterns on its Prince George campus.

Effective July 26, the speed limit in CNC parking lots and the access road on CNC’s campus colloquially know at “college road” is reduced from 30 km/h to 15 km/h. CNC has also installed improved speed signage, added a new four-way stop, and changed the flow of traffic in CNC’s dental and daycare parking to one-way traffic only.

“CNC is committed to the safety of its students, employees, and faculty, as well as the general public who use this road regularly,” says Sylvie Stekelenburg, CNC’s director of safety and security, in a news release. “We’ve worked hard to identify solutions that will mitigate potential traffic hazards.”

Implementation of traffic pattern changes is a result of a collaboration between CNC’s safety and security department, facilities department, and occupational health and safety committee.

Further changes are also expected to roll out over the next year.
