The College of New Caledonia's Board of Governors has named an interim president.
Dr. Bryn Kulmatycki will take on the job on July 1, it was announced Friday.
"Bryn has been doing an excellent job as the college's vice-president academic and we know he will do the same as interim president," said CNC board chair Bob Murray. "We are obviously going through a transition period with John Bowman's departure and we are confident Bryn is the best person to lead us through that."
Kulmatycki joined CNC in May, 2011, as associate vice-president academic and recently became vice president academic. He has a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Calgary and a master's degree in policy and governance from the University of Alberta.
"I am delighted to be taking over as interim president," Kulmatycki said. "We have great students, a cohesive executive as well as excellent faculty and employees. This is an exciting time for post-secondary education and I look forward to getting started."
Kulmatycki has 14 years of experience in senior administration as a CEO and regional school superintendent in Alberta, as well as five years as president of Newman College.
CNC hopes to start its search for a president in September, with the assistance of a recruitment firm. The search committee plans to make a decision by March, with the new president likely starting on July 1, 2014.
Kulmatycki will replace John Bowman, who will become president of North Island College on Aug. 1.
