The College of New Caledonia's light warehouse training program has received $288,000 to fund training for 56 students in in light warehouse work.
Students in the 18-week program will earn certification in five areas: forklift operating, occupational first aid - level one, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), occupational health and safety and transportation of dangerous goods.
The funding comes from the provincial government's Employment Skills Access initiative.
The initiative provides tuition-free, group-based training at B.C.'s public, post-secondary institutions for entry-level employment in industries facing labour or skills shortages.
"Prince George will continue to be a goods hub for northern B.C. Investing in warehouse training gives British Columbians with the skills they'll need to work in an industry we know will need employees in the future," said B.C. Jobs Minister and Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Pat Bell.
It's the program's third intake at CNC.
