College of New Caledonia's dental hygiene students are currently seeking adult patients for their dental hygiene clinics this fall.
Nineteen dental hygiene students are in their second year of the program and each require many patients of varying complexities but are looking particularly for complex patients at this time.
People who have not seen a dentist or hygienist in many years or who are aware of having active periodontal disease are strongly encouraged to call and book a screening as our students are seeking patients with difficult cleanings as part of their graduation requirements.
The hygiene clinic is ideal for people who are able to commit some time to contribute to the students' learning experience.
For a new adult patient, the minimum number of appointments is three and increases depending on the amount of cleaning required. The students are also required to see patients with active cavities and heavy deposits.
"This is a great option for people who don't have dental coverage but are willing to commit some time to have their teeth cleaned," said Monica Costley, patient services co-ordinator for the college's dental clinic.
The cost for treatment is $30 and could include scaling, prophy and fluoride, desensitizing, radiographs and sealants if required. This fall the clinic times are on Monday afternoons and Thursday and Friday mornings. Limited space is available.
