Get ready to hit the slope - April 21 has been declared Climb for Cancer Day.

That's when teams and individuals will take to the cutbank to raise money for Canadian Cancer Society's Kordyban Lodge.

Mayor Lyn Hall delivered the official proclamation to Climb for Cancer committee chair David Duck on Friday.

In its first two years, the event has raised $57,000 to support the lodge, which provides a home away from home for patients receiving cancer treatment in Prince George.

Kordyban Lodge has 36 beds and provides three meals a day, along with support for cancer patients and their families. And since opening in March 2013, it has hosted more than 5,000 patients and their care givers.
