The city's unemployment rate stood at 5.2 per cent in November, according to a Statistics Canada labour market survey.
That's down from 6.5 per cent for the same month last year.
In all 49,800 people were holding down jobs, up from 47,200, while those seeking work totaled 2,800, down from 3,300, and those of working age not participating was 19,900, down from 21,800.
Also, the number of people of working age in the city was 52,600, up from 50,500.
Accuracy of the unemployment rate for November is plus-or-minus 0.8 percentage points 68 per cent of the time. Accuracy for the same figure for November 2016 is plus-or-minus one percentage point 68 per cent of the time.
The figures are based on a three-month rolling average and do not separate part-time from full-time work.
