The number of people employed in Prince George rose back above the 50,000 mark last month, according to Statistics Canada labour market survey results released Friday.
The total stood at 50,500, up from 49,300 in May, while the city's unemployment rate declined slightly, to 5.4 per cent in June from 5.5 per cent the month before.
The number of people of working age not participating in the workforce declined by 1,100 to 17,200 and those looking for work held steady at 2,900.
The city's total employed was also above 50,000 in March and April before slipping below that threshold in May.
Looking at June 2013, the unemployment rate was a rock-bottom 3.8 per cent, but 48,300 people were working, 20,500 people of working age were not participating in the workforce and 1,900 were looking for work.
The figures are based on a three-month rolling average and do not say how many are working full-time and part-time.
