Protecting the city core from wildfire takes ongoing efforts on the forested fringes of the city.
The City of Prince George has been working at this since 2004, in reaction to the interface fires in communities like Barrier, Kamloops and Kelowna, plus the mass killing of pine trees by the mountain pine beetle. At Monday night's council meeting it was decided to devote more municipal staff time to this issue, as spring approaches.
