The city is making its annual call for creative residents and organizations to apply for some extra financial help.

The myPG Community Grant program assists non-profit charities and community groups to be able to develop and implement innovative activities, projects and other events that help make Prince George a great community.

The deadline for applying for 2020's round is Oct. 15.

The city says those applying are strongly encouraged to propose initiative approaches to program and service delivery that represents the ongoing COVID-19 operating environment.

"In particular, the adjudication committee will be considering the degree to which applicants are responding to emerging service needs, and/or adapting the delivery of an existing program to ensure compliance with public health orders," a release reads.

Those eligible can apply for large or small grants, typically ranging, according to the city between $2,500 to $8,000.

However, some grants as small as $900 are also available.

Activities and projects should be accessible to residents of all backgrounds, ethnicities, and income levels and applications are set to be evaluated based on the following criteria:

  • Increasing community pride
  • Encouraging a safe community
  • Providing social connections for citizens
  • Encouraging physical activity
  • Providing opportunities for involvement in arts and culture
  • Ensuring equity and inclusion

Those looking for information and to apply can do so online.
