The city has hired another member of its communications team.

Toronto native Todd Corrigall started as the new manager of communications on Monday, joining corporate communications specialist Mike Kellett.

Corrigall most recently worked in communications, marketing and branding for the CBC in the Northwest Territories. Taking the job in Prince George is a homecoming of sorts, as Corrigall's wife is a Prince George native that he met while living and working in Vancouver.

The new hire isn't part of the city's executive team of senior staff. A communications director position was first posted last August and when that proved unsuccessful, it was posted again in December.

Communications staff are under the purview of the city manager's office and about $393,000 was allocated in this year's budget to support three full-time equivalents. During last year's budget meeting, city manager Beth James said she didn't expect to use the entire allocation.
