Partnering with the province on paving work has freed up funds for more local streets, according to the head of the operations department.

In a report to council, Bill Gaal outlines five additional road rehab projects the city is adding to its 2014 list:

* 15th Avenue betweeen Victoria Street and Lower Patricia

* Southridge Avenue between St. Anne and St. Lawrence Avenues

* Eastern Street between Railway Road and Terminal Boulevard

* Blackwater Road from Sykes Road to the city limits (the first 1,200 metres south of Sykes Road was already scheduled for construction)

* 18th Avenue between Foothills and Ospika Boulevards

An extra $755,000 in paving funds was freed up due to the city's independent as well as joint tender with the province for asphalt, wrote Gaal.

There was already $9.8 million going towards the 2014 road rehab program for 29 previously identified sites.
