Citizen staff are in the running for the B.C. and Yukon Community Newspapers Association Ma Murray awards.
Photographer David Mah is a finalist in the sports photo category (for circulation over 25,000) for his April 8, 2013 photo of a Prince George Gymnastics Club member mid-dismount. He is also nominated for his spot news work capturing the Sept. 7, 2013 attempted carjacking foiled by an RCMP officer and police service dog.
The other nominees in the sports photo category are Roger Knox of the Vernon Morning Star and Ben Gawletz of the Victoria News. Paul McGrath of the North Shore News and Andrew Leong of the Cowichan News Leader Pictorial round out the spot news photo category.
Citizen graphic designer Grace Flack and promotions executive Norm Coyne are finalists in the ad design, collaborative, category for Charlie's Girl Christmas campaign.
The winner will be announced on April 26 at an awards gala in Richmond.
