Citizen finalist for Ma Murray Awards

The Prince George Citizen is a finalist in four categories in this year's Ma Murray Awards - two in sales and two in editorial.

The Prince George Citizen is a finalist in four categories in this year's Ma Murray Awards - two in sales and two in editorial.

Sales rep Debie Hemich and ad builder Grace Flack are up for an award in the collaborative ad campaign category for their work with Northern Health while the Citizen's Profiles of Excellence publication is a finalist in special publications with circulation over 25,000.

On the editorial side photographer Brent Braaten's Dec. 12, 2017 front-page photo of a skater at the outdoor ice oval is up for best feature photo for newspapers with circulation over 25,000.

And reporter Mark Nielsen is a finalist in the outdoor recreation writing category for his account of a Caledonia Ramblers multi-day trip in August into Mount Edziza Provincial Park.

The Ma Murray Awards recognize excellence in B.C.'s community newspapers.

There are three finalists in each category. The winners will be announced April 28.
