The price tag for a Prince George delegation to spend a week in China has been released.

Last week, Mayor Shari Green, acting city manager Kathleen Soltis, councillors Dave Wilbur and Lyn Hall and Initiatives Prince George head Heather Oland toured locales in the Guandong province with an eye on establishing a sister city relationship with Jiangmen.

According to a report to council by Green, the trip came to a total of $24,081.37 for the group of five.

This includes $11,452.09 in return airfare, $7,596,56 in hotel, ground transportation and admission fees, $743.72 for meals, and just over $1,400 for each of the three categories of gifts, miscellaneous spending and translation services.

Oland's expenses are to be covered by IPG and the translation services are paid for out of Western Economic Diversification grant funds.

The last delegation to China in 2010 cost about $38,000, which came from a $50,000 provincial grant to support establishing twinning relationships with municipalities in China, Japan, Korea or India.

The $12,000 remaining from that fund was supplemented with a $10,000 contribution from Minister of Jobs, Tourism and Skills Training Pat Bell, who signed over the cash after cancelling his own Chinese trade mission this fall. Any outstanding costs for the trip were to be covered by the city's economic development fund.

Mayor Green and the rest of the delegation will detail their trip Monday.
