Last month's Prince George delegation to China cost the city $2,922.

That was out of a total $17,522 spent during the trip to the proposed sister city Jiangmen Nov. 5 to 13, said a report to council from mayor Shari Green.

The other costs were borne by Initiatives Prince George and grant programs. Green was accompanied by city manager Beth James and IPG CEO Heather Oland on the trip which served to further the relationship between the two cities, which already have a signed memorandum of understanding.

"Jiangmen has confirmed that it will be sending a city delegation to Prince George in the coming year to finalize the twinning agreement," said Green.

The exercise is worth the expense, the mayor added.

"I think it's money well spent and you need to spend money to make money," said Green. "So I think for the cost of the investment and the grant opportunities we're able to apply for to help us pay for that, it's well worth the effort."
