The Northern Women's Forum is collecting blankets and winter wear for those in need in the lead up to a rally for reducing poverty and eliminating violence against women.
The 13th annual Chili Blanket is set for Saturday from noon to 2 p.m. in front of the Prince George courthouse.
The items collected will be handed out at the event, as will free hot chili and hot chocolate.
There will also be "cool tunes and sharp talk!"
Everyone had a right to the basic necessities of food, clothing and shelter, "yet more and more families have been pushed into poverty," the NWF said in a press release.
The 1989 Montreal Massacre will also be recognized during the event.
Donations can be dropped off at the College of New Caledonia library or at the event itself.
