Central Mountain Air will suspend all its regularly-scheduled flights, starting on April 11.

The regional airline offers regular service between Prince George and Vancouver, Edmonton, Kelowna, Kamloops, Terrace, Smithers, Fort St. John and Fort Nelson. In addition, Central Mountain Air was expected to launch direct service to Calgary on May 3.

"As we continue to address the unprecedented challenges the current COVID-19 health crisis presents, Central Mountain Air is taking dramatic measures to protect our business, employees, customers and the larger communities we serve," a statement on the company's website says. "Effective April 11 through June 7, scheduled flights will be suspended while charters remain available... If your flight is affected by these schedule changes you can expect a call from our reservations team."

The airline's call centre is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sunday to Thursday. Central Mountain Air asked customers to only call within seven days of their scheduled flight, because of the high volume of calls the centre is receiving.

"We thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time," the statement says. "Rest assured our team is devoted to ensuring our serviced communities are impacted as little as possible."
