Students at Cedars Christian will no longer be eligible for scholarships and bursaries awarded by the school district.
Trustees gave final approval Tuesday to the change in policy following some debate about whether Cedars should be contacted directly about the change first.
Roxanne Ricard suggested the matter be postponed to the last meeting in April to give administration time to contact the school before final approval, "out of courtesy."
But Lois Boone contended that as a private school, Cedars has no say on school district business and added that no one knows why a representative from Cedars was on the committee in the first place.
Trustees ended up giving final approval after voting 7-2 against postponing approval. Chairperson Lyn Hall and trustees Trish Bella, Rhonda White, Sharel Warrington and Boone voted against postponement and Valentine Crawford joined Ricard in voting in favour.
The item had gone through a referral process after a draft policy was approved in late September.
