Cause of Highglen fire undetermined

Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire that struck Highglen Montessori elementary school undetermined due to a lack of conclusive evidence.

Investigators have ruled the cause of the fire that struck Highglen Montessori elementary school undetermined due to a lack of conclusive evidence.

In a statement issued Tuesday, Prince George Fire Rescue chief fire prevention officer Dennis Perrault said it's believed the fire began in an area above the drop-down ceiling in classroom 122 in the school's northwest corner.

A B.C. Safety Authority electrical inspector was brought in to help with the investigation, but due to extensive fire damage he was unable to determine if electrical wiring found in the area of origin had been the source of ignition.

"The lack of conclusive evidence has led the Investigators to rule the cause of this fire as undetermined," Perrault said.
