Victoria, the eight-year-old calico, needs leg surgery to live a pain-free life, said the local branch manager of the SPCA.
The cat's got a patella luxation which prevents full use of her leg.
"Her affected leg does not bend or function the way it should," said Jodi Boivin, BC SPCA North Cariboo District Branch assistant manager. "While this condition is not consistently painful, it can cause pain when the patella moves out of place and Victoria is such a sweet, affectionate lady - we just want to ease any pain she may have and give her the full use of her four legs."
Surgery and a two-month stay in foster care for recovery will cost about $2,500 and since the SPCA is a non-profit organization that relies on public donations, the North Cariboo branch is hoping people will donate to help Victoria become a healthy cat once again.
"We're hoping animal lovers out there will help this beautiful girl achieve a mobile and pain-free life and hopefully, after she recovers, she'll find a forever, loving home," said Boivin.
