The B.C. New Democrats have nominated former Cariboo Regional District director Duncan Barnett as their candidate in Cariboo North for the 2013 provincial election.
"The Cariboo is a beautiful place that I'm proud to call home," said Barnett. "People in the Cariboo and the province deserve a new and better government, and I'll work hard to earn their votes and help make that happen."
Barnett was officially nominated as the BC NDP candidate at a meeting on Jan. 20 in Quesnel.
He said he believes that working in Victoria as part of a team is the best way to deliver results for the Cariboo.
"My goal is to work with [B.C. NDP party leader] Adrian Dix and the strong NDP team to get things done for people here in the Cariboo," said Barnett.
Barnett was a CRD Director for 10 years, was the president of the Cariboo Cattlemen's Association and has owned and operated a ranch near Williams Lake for nearly two decades.
"Barnett will be a great candidate for Cariboo North," said Dix. "He knows the issues in the constituency and has been working hard in the communities for many years."
