Cariboo North names NDP contender

The B.C. New Democrats have nominated former Cariboo Regional District director Duncan Barnett as their candidate in Cariboo North for the 2013 provincial election. "The Cariboo is a beautiful place that I'm proud to call home," said Barnett.

The B.C. New Democrats have nominated former Cariboo Regional District director Duncan Barnett as their candidate in Cariboo North for the 2013 provincial election.

"The Cariboo is a beautiful place that I'm proud to call home," said Barnett. "People in the Cariboo and the province deserve a new and better government, and I'll work hard to earn their votes and help make that happen."

Barnett was officially nominated as the BC NDP candidate at a meeting on Jan. 20 in Quesnel.

He said he believes that working in Victoria as part of a team is the best way to deliver results for the Cariboo.

"My goal is to work with [B.C. NDP party leader] Adrian Dix and the strong NDP team to get things done for people here in the Cariboo," said Barnett.

Barnett was a CRD Director for 10 years, was the president of the Cariboo Cattlemen's Association and has owned and operated a ranch near Williams Lake for nearly two decades.

"Barnett will be a great candidate for Cariboo North," said Dix. "He knows the issues in the constituency and has been working hard in the communities for many years."
