Former NDP MLA Charlie Wyse has been acclaimed as the NDP candidate in Cariboo-Chilcotin, the fourth NDP candidate nominated in preparation for a possible fall provincial election.

Wyse served the area as MLA from 2005-2009.

Wyse served on Williams Lake City Council for 23 years, chairing the finance committee among other portfolios. He has been a director for the Cariboo Regional District and has chaired the Central Cariboo-Chilcotin Health Council.

"Since the Liberal government was re-elected in 2009, they have failed to address critical issues of land stewardship, First Nations relations, and job creation in rural areas," said Wyse. "I look forward to the opportunity to work with the constituents of Cariboo-Chilcotin to strengthen our community."

Wyse will be officially acclaimed as the NDP candidate for Cariboo-Chilcotin at a meeting on Wednesday, July 27 at 5:30 p.m. at the Longhouse at the Stampede Grounds in Williams Lake.
