A cashier at a Prince George convenience store was transported to hospital Wednesday after an elderly woman drove her car through the store's front window.

The crash occurred shortly before noon at PG Foods on 15th Street near Central Street East.

The car progressed far enough to smash the window and knock over a cigarette stand just inside where the cashier appeared to have been working. The cashier was conscious as she was taken away on a stretcher.

The car's driver was able to walk away from the accident although she was also taken to hospital for further examination. Her car appeared to have suffered little damage other than scratches on the front end.

Prince George RCMP and Prince George Fire and Rescue did not return requests for comment Wednesday.
