Captain Cure will take the lead during the Frozen Beach Walk up Victoria Street on Friday at noon to help raise funds for the Canadian Cancer Society.
"For every $100 we raise, we'll walk a block down Victoria Street in our beach wear," said Aaron Trenholm, Captain Cure.
He and ten of his chilliest friends will participate, hoping to raise awareness and inspire others to join in the Relay for Life in the spring - when it's warmer.
"It's going to be awesome!" said Trenholm.
"The Canadian Cancer Society gives a lot back to the community and helps out a lot. I feel this is a charity that needs to be helped and recognized for all the work they do in the community. I have lost a few people near to me and I know lots of people who have been affected by cancer. I want to help the Canadian Cancer Society because they've helped out my family and friends."
It's a family effort, with Trenholm's three daughters taking the initiative and making friendship bracelets for $5 each, with all proceeds going to the cause. The girls are Jacinda, 7, Sierra, 6, and little Athena, 3.
"They totally came up with the idea and are already up to $60," said Trenholm.
"They've registered for the Relay for Life and used their own allowance to register."
People can donate to Captain Cure's Frozen Beach Walk at the Cancer Society office, 500 Victoria St., online at at www.relayforlifeBC.ca, like their Facebook page Team Captain Cure or come down to the Frozen Beach Walk Friday that starts at Alibis, 1201 First Ave. Registration and coffee starts at 11 a.m. and the walk starts at noon.
