Canfor Pulp announced Dec. 22 t will be shutting down a production line at Northwood Pulp Mill for 85 to 100 days.

The outage will allow the rebuild of the lower furnace for the mill’s number one recovery boiler “in order to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the boiler,” a statement issued by Canfor Pulp said.

The project is expected to cost $30 million and reduce the mill’s pulp production by 68,000 to 80,000 tonnes.

In the statement, Canfor Pulp said it will continue to run the second production line at the Prince George mill throughout the rebuild period.
