Canfor Corp. president and CEO Jim Shepard is stepping down, to be replaced by veteran company executive Don Kayne.
The changeover will take place at the company's next annual general meeting scheduled for May 5.
"Jim has decided to return to retirement after four years as president and CEO of the company. During that time he has lead the company through extremely difficult economic times and leaves the company in a strong financial position," said Ronald Cliff, chairman of Canfor's board of directors.
"The entire board is appreciative of Jim's contribution, leadership and guidance," added Cliff.
Shepard, who had been sitting on Canfor's board of directors, came out of retirement to take the helm of Canfor at the beginning of what turned out to be a protracted housing slump in the United States.
