The Canadian Treasures Road Show is coming to the Civic Centre April 8 to 10 as part of a world-wide hunt for treasure -- old, gold and valuable antiques and collectibles.

The hunters may offer the owner cash on the spot and it's up to them to sell or not.

Recently, the Canadian RoadShow found a 1960s vintage Les Paul guitar worth $100,000, four gold coins purchased for more than $3,000 and Confederate money hidden in the walls of a residence that was uncovered during a remodel fetched the finder a small fortune.

Roadshow spokesperson Kent Scott, said they were thrilled to be able to fit in Prince George, Kamloops, Kelowna,Victoria and several locations in Alberta and Saskatchewan during the tour across Canada.

In Prince George, hunters are hoping to see such items as coins and paper currency issued before 1965, toys, dolls, trains, vintage jewelry, old musical instruments, war memorabilia, gold and silver jewelry, costume jewelry, advertising memorabilia, swords, knives, daggers and anything unusual.

Because of the huge demand from buyers around the globe the Roadshow will now be buying gold, based on the day’s current gold value. They will accept broken jewelry, unused gold jewelry, estate jewelry, gold coins, gold bars, gold nuggets and all scrap gold including dental gold.

"That's right," said Scott. "We even buy dental gold and just last week a gentleman who informed us he was a retired dentist brought in three bags full of dental gold with many having the tooth still attached to it and he walked away with over $4,000 in cash."

There is no limit to the number of items a person can bring, but the Roadshow management advises people not to clean their antiques or collectibles because cleaning can damage them. Guests should also expect to wait up to 45 minutes to be seen, depending on the crowd.

The Canadian Treasures Road Show will be at the Civic Centre Friday, April 8 to Sunday, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
