The Canada Winter Games medals will be unveiled Friday morning.
The medals, awarded to top athletes during the Games, and forged in gold, silver and bronze were created by local artist Jen Pighin, who is an elected councillor for the host Lheidli T'enneh First Nation.
"The creativity of Jennifer's design truly captures the northern B.C. spirit and will certainly resonate with every athlete that will reach the podium at the upcoming 2015 Canada
Winter Games in Prince George," said Tom Quinn, chair of the Canada Games Council, in a story published in the Citizen last month.
The majority of the metals used to in Pighin's designs is provided by Teck Resources Ltd., the Canada Winter Games exclusive metals supplier.
