Prince George’s Canada Day In The Park festivities have been cancelled.
There was no choice but to cancel this year’s event, set for Lheidli T’enneh Memorial Park, said Marlies Greulich, the executive director of the Multicultural Heritage Society, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This festival is a community event which involves hundreds
of people and organizations. It takes months of planning in order to stage such a large birthday party,” Greulich said in a release. “Our timeline does not allow us to hesitate any longer and we regret to
inform our funders, supporters, entertainers, community groups, concessions, volunteers and our potential audiences that
the 2020 ”Celebrate Canada Day” Festival in the Park has been cancelled.”
Many other large public events scheduled for this spring and summer have been cancelled due to the pandemic.
“Realistically, we will not be having those big events where people gather together this summer, that is a much riskier prospect than ever before,” B.C. public health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said last Saturday.
