Ness Lake Bible Camp’s annual Cans for Kids fundraiser is happening on Saturday at the Nechako Bottle Depot.

Volunteers will be on site from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to receive, unload and sort donations of bottles, cans, milk jugs. The Nechako Bottle Depot is matching the funds raised, which helps send kids to camp whose families otherwise couldn’t afford it.

"Last year nearly 200 kids benefited from the Camper Sponsorship program. Thanks to fundraisers and donations, kids who might otherwise have been unable to come weren’t left out,” Ness Lake Bible Camp executive director Dave Horton.

The program pays a portion or all of the fees for kids to attend the camp, making it accessible for all.

“I can’t bottle up my excitement about this,” said Hannah Norum, the camp’s interim program director. “Events like this keep us from fizzling out. Bring in your recycling so-da kids can come to camp.”
