Business as usual at CNC

The rest of December is expected to be smooth sailing for students at College of New Caledonia thanks to a tentative deal between the operational staff and their provincial employers.

Exams and classes will continue as scheduled thanks to a tentative monetary agreement being reached by Canadian Union of Public Employees - represented at CNC by local 4951 - and the provincial government.

Collective bargaining talks at the local table are expected to be as equally fruitful, according to a statement on the school's website.

"We are trying to schedule local meetings the week of Dec. 17," said Randall Heidt, CNC director of communications and development. "There were exhaustive efforts on both sides during a very long and weekend and CNC would like to thank everyone who made this deal happen."

Details of the agreement will not be released until the union has had a chance to recommend the deal to their membership.
