Drivers will soon be sitting behind full-fledged doors on BC Transit buses in Prince George.

Buses are being retrofitted with the doors, which consist of a transparent piece of laminated tempered glass with anti-glare coating and metal base and be placed to the driver's right near the fare box.

The work is being carried out over about three days, BC Transit said Wednesday, and will help protect drivers from COVID-19. The doors will replace the vinyl panels currently in place in answer to the pandemic.

Community and handyDART buses in both the conventional and custom systems will continue to be equipped with vinyl panels.
