Earth Day

Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at REAPS Compost Demonstration Garden, 1950 Gorse St. Help kick off this year’s City Wide Spring Cleanup, to be held on Sunday, April 24th and celebrate Earth Day at REAPS in partnership with Canfor, City of Prince George and the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George. Activities for the day include sign up, pick up of bags and gloves for the Annual Spring Cleanup; free workshops including Pallet Composter at noon, and Pallet Planter Box at 1 p.m., kids crafts, recycle challenge, entry to win a greenhouse/composter/rain barrel, and visit community educational booths. In addition pick up for free - while quantities last - Dilly Bar, compost (bring your own bucket), orchid or mini rose, and gift card. Lego Mania! 

Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. Join other Lego enthusiasts for Master Builder contests and other lego fun for ages five to nine years and there's another session from 3 to 4 p.m. for 10 to 12 year olds at the Prince George Public Library, Bob Harkins Branch, downtown. Fiddle jamboree dance

Friday from 7 to 11 p.m. at 1692 Tenth Ave., at the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre. Dance is free of charge for those registered in the April 23 workshops. Music provided by the workshop instructors and members of the local BC Old Time Fiddlers. Everyone is welcome. $10 for the dance only. Spring fiddle jamboree

Saturday 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. the BC Old Time Fiddlers' Association presents the Spring Fiddle Jamboree workshop at the Elder Citizens Recreation Centre, 1692 Tenth Ave., where participants will work with accomplished instructors. Fiddle, banjo, and piano. Lunch and dinner included. There will be an instructors' concert at 6:30 p.m. featuring Jenny Lester, Colin Butchart and special guests. Garage Sale

Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the Spruce Capital Seniors Recreation Centre, 3701 Rainbow Drive, is hosting a garage sale that offers a variety of items including kitchen items, books, puzzles and jewelry and more. Tea Time for the Soul

Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Prince George Hospice Society, 1506 Ferry Ave. Tea Time for the Soul gives those who are grieving the death of a loved one the chance to come and share their grief story. PG Cantata Singers Concert

Saturday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church, 1505 Fifth Ave., the PG Cantata Singers presents The Byrds & the Bs Concert, featuring classical and popular works from various composers such as: Byrd, Bach, Brahms, Britten, Bernstein, Barber, the Beatles and Bowie. City Wide Spring Clean Up

Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout the Prince George community. Do your part and help clean up Prince George. The city will be undergoing a massive cleanup to rid it of all its unwanted litter. Grab your family, friends and commit to picking up garbage in one part of the city.

Upon registration volunteers will get as many free gloves and bags as you need. To assist in the event there will be garbage bins around the city where residents can drop off garbage for free. Please note that these bins will only take garbage. Yard waste can be taken for free to the Foothills Landfill site or the Quinn Street and Vanway Transfer & Recycle Stations. Classical Concert at the Library

Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Prince George Public Library, Bob Harkins Branch, downtown. Join the Alban Classical Artists Society for this hour-long classical concert, which is a free, drop-in event. For more information visit www.pgpl.ca.

Fire Hall Open House

Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Ferndale/Tabor volunteer Fire Department, 16315 Giscome Road, there is an open house of the expanded fire all with the new fire engine. Tour the First Safety House, take aim with the virtual fire extinguisher, meet Sparky the Fire Dog and Practice CPR/AED. Pick up new batteries for smoke alarms, meet the firefighters and watch some demonstrations. There are door prizes, gifts for the kids, hot dogs and snacks. Prince George Prostate Cancer Support Group 

Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Kordyban Lodge, 1100 Alward St. Founded by the Rotary Club of Prince George, the Prince George Prostate Cancer Support Group (PGPCSG) has been created an open forum for men and their families living with prostate cancer to share their stories and learn more about this disease that no longer has to be a death sentence. A Man and his Models

Until May 14 Prince George Railway and Forestry Museum, 850 River Road, will honour one of its most generous volunteers Roy Groeneveld with the exhibit called a Man and his Models. Groeneveld worked as a C.N.R. Locomotive Crane Operator from 1957 through 1966. He generously donated many of his intricate models to the museum. For more information call 250-563-7351.

Spruce Capital Seniors

PG Cariboo Toastmasters

Every Monday from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at 3330 22nd Avenue, first floor room 1-317, come to Communicate With Confidence. From public speaking, presentations to general conversations, Cariboo Toastmasters will strengthen your communication skills and boost your confidence. KidsZone is a fun, safe, free, weekly club for kids ages 5-12. The clubs feature games, snacks, music and teaching time with Bible stories from  2:30 to 4 p.m. on days listed. Breast Cancer Support Group

Every first and third Tuesday of every month from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. Michael's Anglican Church, 1505 Fifth Ave. Informal conversations about individual breast cancer journeys and experiences from diagnosis through treatment to life after breast cancer. Offering emotional support, encouragement, and a listening ear. Talk with women who have 'been there, done that' and help each other move forward one day at a time. Every Voice Community Choir

COPD Support Group

Awana Children's Club

Every Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Hartland Baptist Church, 6599 Driftwood Road, bring children to a fun and engaging weekly club that focuses on teaching children about Jesus and Bible memory. For more information call 250-962-8641. 

Fiddlers' Jam Sessions

Every Thursday 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Elder Citizen's Recreation Association, 1692 Tenth Ave. Jam Nights include group old-time fiddle lessons for all ages and all-instrument group jamming. Musicians are welcome to join in the music, and non-musicians are welcome to come listen, dance and visit with friends.

Tai Chi

Every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Knox United Church basement, 1448 Fifth Ave., learn 8 brocade qigong, 9-form and 108-form tai chi. This will improve flexibility, balance, memory, reflexes and help participants sleep better. Wear loose clothing and non-marking shoes. $5 drop-in or $10 per month. 

Crib and Darts at the Legion

Prince George Toastmasters

Every Thursday from 6:45 to 9:30 p.m. at AimHi, 950 Kerry Street. Prince George Toastmasters has been meeting since August 1977. As the second oldest club in Prince George, BC, we have helped hundreds of people be more effective public speakers and leaders in their community.

Heartbeat

Every community experiences death by suicide. When an intentionally self-inflicted death occurs families and friends suffer a magnitude of isolated, complicated grief. Because the grief that follows suicide is different from grief resulting from other causes of death the Canadian Mental Health Association formed HEARTBEAT, a group of mutual support for those who have suffered loss through suicide. Story Time at Books & Co.

Every Saturday at 10 a.m. at 1685 Third Avenue enthusiastic storyteller Kayli entertains the children with books and crafts, offering the grown ups a chance to relax in the cafe or browse the bookstore. There is no charge for this event. 

CoffeeHouse Sundays

Every Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Cafe Voltaire in Books & Co., 1685 Third Ave. Dedicated to promoting and encouraging local music, everyone can attend CoffeeHouse Sundays where there is a welcoming stage, local hosts, a variety of talent and great coffee.
