Fire investigators will be on scene on the 1100 block of Buchanan Avenue to determine the cause of a Tuesday afternoon house fire.
Prince George Fire Rescue responded to the home shortly before 3:30 p.m. after a neighbour reported heavy smoke coming from inside.
On arrival, crews found a smoldering fire in the basement, which they quickly knocked down before working to clear the smoke.
According to Asst. Chief Greg Wilkins, fire damage is extensive, as all signs point to the home having been burning for some time before the blaze was reported.
No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The preliminary cause of the fire is undetermined, as is the estimate for the amount of damage.
