Police are on the lookout for Harry Potter, or rather someone who reportedly looks like the character from the J.K. Rowling books.

The description was cast by a Good Samaritan who intervened when a friend's fifth-wheel trailer was being broken into Wednesday morning at about 9:30. The thief turned on the neighbour, first brandishing a screwdriver like a knife and then pelting the neighbour's face with a blast of bear spray.

"The victim was in a lot of discomfort but was not seriously injured and did not need medical attention," said Prince George RCMP spokesman Cpl. Craig Douglass.

The suspect ran off, with a police service dog not far behind, but the trail was lost at a parking lot where it is believed the assailant had a vehicle to escape the scene - or else donned a cloak of invisibility.

"We were told to be on the lookout for someone resembling Harry Potter," Douglass said. "That was all to do with the physical appearance of the suspect - the glasses, the face, the hair. It reminded the victim of Harry Potter."

The suspect was further described as being a very light-skinned Caucasian male, approximately 18 to 21 years old, five foot five inches tall, with short light brown hair, wearing an olive green rain jacket, black hoodie, black jeans, running shoes and glasses.

The bear spray attack happened in the 1600 block of Pearson Avenue and the trail was lost at a parking lot on St. Laurent Avenue.
