Residents get one more chance to speak tonight about the city's plan to push more infill development into Bowl-area neighbourhoods.
A public hearing will be held at city hall during tonight's city council meeting on the bylaw and official community plans changes to expand and update a zoning category (RS4: Urban Residential) that allows narrow-lot housing in seven areas.
According to a survey conducted during a round of public consultation last fall, 56 per cent of respondents indicated they were in favour of narrow lot housing, with 36 per cent opposed.
The city's planning department has recommended updating the zoning in the Crescents, East Central Fort George, Quinson and parts of Millar Addition, VLA and Van Bow subdivisions.
"We would like to be able to build a home for us to allow us to age gracefully and safely in a neighbourhood we have raised our children in, know our neighbours and is good for walking and is nearby stores and amenities," wrote Linda Campbell in a letter of support to the city for the changes. "There are many people in Prince George who will require smaller homes in the very near future and now where do I see any planning until now."
Public hearings begin in council chambers at 7 p.m.
