Slightly more than 50 acres of land at the south end of Boundary Road will be ready for sale by this spring and summer, developer Harry Backlin said Friday.

Part of the 1,200 hectares (3,000) acres designated for development in the Prince George Global Logistics Park near the Prince George Airport, the 26 lots of varying size will be ready for use as light industrial, according to Backlin.

Backlin is representing Henry Rempel, the New Westminster businessman who owns about 2,500 acres of the land making up the park. Rempel also contributed about $6.5 million to the $28 million Boundary Road project, the 6.8-kilometre, two-lane, arterial-grade road connecting Highway 16 East with Highway 97 South.

While the focus has been on opening up the north end closest to the airport, Backlin said the demand is for land at the south end closest to Highway 97. He said a contractor has recently secured a permit to use heavy equipment to carry soil across Boundary Road to level out a site on the east side.
